AROMATHERAPY: The use of flower, fruit, and herb oil essences in massages, body wraps, and baths to stimulate the senses and treat physical and emotional 

imbalances.

 

BODY POLISH: A gentle buffing or massaging of the skin with botanical or marine

extracts or salt for exfoliation and smoothness. Similar to a salt glow.

 

BODY WRAP: A coating of seaweed or an herbal mixture on the body, which is wrapped in plastic, sheets, and/or blankets to contain heat, eliminate toxins via perspiration, and induce relaxation.

EFFLEURAGE: Massage technique involving quick, long strokes at the beginning and end of a treatment.

 

EXFOLIATION: The gentle removal of dead skin using salt, sugar, crushed grape seeds, crushed pearls, or another agent, followed by moisturizing.

 

FACIAL: The use of creams, mud, seaweed, herbs, and other products, plus steam or electronic stimulation, to cleanse, exfoliate, hydrate, moisturize, and increase the circulation in the skin on the face. Varieties include back facials, deep facials, and oxygen facials.

 

FANGO: Mineral and nutrient-rich mud from the Italian hot springs at Battaglio. (Fango is the Italian word for mud.) Fangotherapy involves using mud in facials and body wraps for detoxification, improved circulation, and pain relief.

 

FOUR-HAND MASSAGE: A massage given simultaneously by two therapists.

 

HOT STONE / LA STONE MASSAGE: The use of flat, heated basalt stones and cool marble stones in a massage to relax the muscles and relieve aches.

 

LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE: A light massage on the face and neck or the entire body to reduce swollen tissue and detoxify the lymphatic system.
