MASSAGE: Manipulation of the muscles, connective tissues, and joints to calm, relax, increase circulation and flexibility, and release tension.

 

MOOR MUD:  Mud taken from a 2,000 year-old Austrian moor that contains more than 700 herbs and plants. It is used for body wraps, facials, and fangotherapy.

 

PARAFANGO: A body mask that combines wax and mud to heat, detoxify, and exfoliate the skin.

 

PARAFFIN WRAP: The brushing of wax on the body to cleanse and exfoliate the skin. The wax solidifies and is then washed off.

 

REFLEXOLOGY:  Pressure point work on the feet, hands, and ears in areas that are believed to correlate to particular organs to restore the body's flow of energy.

 

SALT GLOW:  The rubbing of oil and coarse salt in circular strokes over the skin for exfoliation, hydration, and improved circulation.

 

SHIATSU: Japanese massage that incorporates acupressure for internal balance and improved energy flow.

 

SPORTS MASSAGE: A deep-tissue massage that prevents or relieves tension in muscles that are used for particular activites.

 

SWEDISH MASSAGE: The most well-known type of massage. It involves lubricating the skin with oil and gently but firmly manipulating pressure points and muscles to improve circulation, enhance flexibility, and relieve tension.

 

THALASSOTHERAPY: Any treatment involving the use of mineral and nutrient rich seawater and marine by-products for healing and rejuvenation. (Thalassa is the Greek word for sea.)

 

TRAGER APPROACH: A technique developed by Dr. Milton Trager that involves rhythmic rocking and shaking movements to relieve joint tension.
